In 2021 he came up with an idea of starting his own source of income. He did his research on what, where and how can he start his business. By looking at the demand of first food he thought of a place that is busy and where his business survive.

He thought of university and realized that most of universities around KZN already have people who sells same products, such as, cow head, bones, and chicken.

Mmeli was motivated by the rate of unemployment in the country to start his own business. According to Stats SA the youth in South Africa continues to be disadvantaged in the labour market with an unemployment rate higher than the national average.

According to the Quarterly Labour Force Survey (QLFS) for the first quarter of 2022, the unemployment rate was 63,9% for those aged 15-24 and 42,1% for those aged 25-34 years, while the current official national rate stands at 34,5%.

Although the graduate unemployment rate remains relatively low in South Africa compared to other educational levels, unemployment among the youth continues to be a burden, irrespective of educational attainment.

Year-on-year, the unemployment rate among young graduates (aged 15-24 years) declined from 40,3% to 32,6%, while it increased by 6,9 percentage points to 22,4% for those aged 25-34 years in Q1: 2022.

The only place that he thought will be a solution for his business was University of Tshwane (TUT). Competition is available but not the same as with KZN universities. He has now employed two people with the purpose of employing more.

“Obviously my purpose is to employ more people than the two I’m working with,” said Mmeli.

People seem to be satisfied with his food and with the service. Zakhele Mlotshwa speaks highly about this business as he said that Mmeli’s food good and what he likes the most about this business is that they know how to treat customers. https://on.soundcloud.com/wJdPF Customers don’t wait a long when they are buying, Zakhe added.
